It's not about finding what is wrong...

But about completing your project for personal improvement; to find peace in relationships, have a positive impact on those you care about, and express your needs within the family or couple.

About Nestor Presas

Nestor Presas is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Supervisor and a member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists, who has been helping families with parenting, stability, growth and reconciliation for more than 15 years. During this time, Mr. Presas has helped families to resettled into the United States from war torn countries, offered assistance to parents trying to regain custody of their children and worked as an advocate for families trying to eradicate prejudice and stigma against people in emotional turmoil.

A graduate of Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, his practice focuses on the family and approaching emotional pain as intrinsic to growth. People who work with him are not received as patients but as collaborators in a project of personal improvement that strengthens functional solutions, without claiming inadequateness or weaknesses on their part. Mr. Presas, offers only solutions which may be described as respectful, empathic and genuine by the participants. His goal is to increase the person’s sense of hope, expectancy and self-control.

Emotionally Focused Therapy

Emotionally focused couples therapy addresses the way in which partners influence one another through a systemic understanding that focuses in the feelings evoked by the partners pattern of interaction with the purpose of expanding the partners mutual understanding, safety and authenticity. We do not see our clients as "sick" but as doing the best they can while stuck in rigid patterns where no one is getting what they want. (Johnson, 2004)

Personal Skills Training, Coaching

Coaching is aimed at facilitating psychological or emotional growth and it is different from psychotherapy. Clients of coaching, in most cases, are considered healthy (i.e. not sick). The purpose of coaching is to help them move forward in whatever way they want to move, not to 'cure' them. In doing this, Mr. Presas works from a position of collaboration and authoritative doubt, but without claiming a not knowing posture, because of the normative assessment tools that underpins the work.

Brief Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Brief psychodynamic psychotherapy can best be described as treatment of limited duration in which the therapist is active in maintaining the focus with limited goals, while using a framework of basic psychoanalitically derived concepts (Levenson, 2010).
