Lena Carvalho

Lena believes therapy should be a safe, supportive space where you don’t have to carry your struggles alone. Her sessions are grounded in empathy and intentionality, creating room for clients to explore the “why” behind their experiences, discover their strengths, and learn practical tools they can use in everyday life.

She works with individuals facing life trials and emotional setbacks, loneliness, feelings of inadequacy, pleasure and vibrancy deficits, and patterns of unhealthy relationships. Lena also supports clients through difficult life transitions, whether expected or sudden, that can bring up feelings of overwhelm, stress, or grief.

With a special passion for working with athletes, Lena provides support for those recovering from injuries, transitioning out of sports, preparing for retirement, or navigating the pressure of balancing performance with academic and personal demands.

Her therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from research-supported techniques that provide space to challenge unhelpful thought patterns, explore the deeper meaning behind emotions and behaviors, strengthen relationship dynamics, and foster a greater sense of purpose, present-moment awareness, and actionable growth.

She views therapy as a collaborative process where insight becomes a catalyst for healing. She is also able to offer faith-based integration into counseling when desired, while always honoring and respecting each client’s unique worldview and perspective.

Lena is currently a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern under the professional supervision of Nestor Presas, LMFT, and Dr. Shannon Warden in Liberty University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.
